Pneumatic Fracturing (PF) has emerged as one of the most cost effective methods for enhanced remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater in difficult, low permeability sites.
Typically, PF can increase the permeability by more than two orders of magnitude, which in turn creates contact with the COCs that are critical to successful physical or chemical in situ remediation. Although fracturing a high permeability site is not possible, Atomized Liquid Injection (ALI) can still be used to achieve excellent mixing between the contaminated soils, groundwater and chemical amendments.
